Lubango - The Moçâmedes Railway (CFM) restarted, at dawn on Monday, the circulation on Lubango/Menongue route, after the interruption on Friday, due to the derailing of a light service train.
Today a passenger train bound for Menongue with 450 occupants left Mukanka station, on the outskirts of Lubango.
A small maintenance machine derailed on Friday between the stations of Caculuvar and Poiares, in Lubango, affecting a kilometre of the line, preventing the circulation of a passenger train leaving Menongue on Sat0urday.
To resolve the issue, passengers were transferred.
According to a statement from Moçamedes Railways, the derailment was caused by human error, but did not result in any victims.
The statement, released on Saturday, clarifies that there was no passenger train derailment, as a video circulating on social networks makes it seem, but rather a light maintenance machine.
