Luanda - An Angolan delegation led by theTransport minister, Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, attends the 41st Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), taking place from September 27 to October 7 in Montreal, Canada.
According to a press release that reached ANGOP, the ICAO member states and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the organization's global policy for the next three years.
The document adds that the results of the Assembly are then provided to the other organs of the ICAO and its Member States to guide their ongoing and future work, as prescribed in Article 49 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The Assembly is organized into 6 groups, namely the Plenary, Executive Committee, Technical Committee, Administrative Committee, Economic Committee and Legal Committee.
The ICAO Assembly is the sovereign body of the Organization and meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO's governing body, the Council.
The ICAO was established in 1944 by the Chicago Convention to promote the safe and orderly development of civil aviation worldwide.
The organization sets standards and regulations necessary for the safety, security, efficiency and regularity of aviation, as well as its environmental protection. Its permanent headquarters is in Montreal, Canada.
The Secretary General of the organization is the Colombian Juan Carlos Salazar, since August 2021.
During the days of the event, the participation of the Airports Council International (ACI), which is the only global commercial representative of the world's airport authorities, will highlight the theme "All 4one Aviation Ecosystem ''.
High level entities of the transport sector, businesspersons and top representatives of the ICAO are also due to meet.
