Luanda – The Republic of Angola was elected this Wednesday, 23, in Luanda, as president of the Cross Border Road Transport Regulators Forum (CBRT-RF), during the 6th meeting of this body of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Angola assumes this leadership through the National Institute of Road Transport of Angola with Énio Costas as the director.
The leadership of Angola defined as one of the goals of its term the promotion of a more efficient cross-border road transports industry to contribute to the social and economic development of the region.
This Friday Angola will preside its first ordinary meeting as the president of the said Forum.
This meeting will serve for Angola to extensively present its programme for the four-year term.
On Wednesday, on a brief statement, the outgoing president of the forum, the South African Lwazi Mboyi, guaranteed support for Angola´s mandate, and also for the structuring of programmes with focus on prioritizing regional trade.
The forum was created by the SADC Transport Ministers to improve the cross-border transport systems in the region, by harmonizing the policies, reducing transport costs, delays and transit times.
However, it is part of the organ´s objective to ensure efficiency in the sector, overcoming the challenges that hamper the trade among southern Africa countries.
