Luanda – Angola inaugurated Friday a modern aeronautical meteorological station that will provide weather data to the aviation ecosystem in the country.
The tool dubbed "Roboto Sonda '', is the first one to be inaugurated in Angola capable of providing safety and meeting the needs of the pilots, before, during and after the flight. It is considered to be of the last generation equipment with high precision in real time, necessary for the safety of the aviation activity.
Speaking to the press, Luanda, the minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Manuel Homem, who inaugurated the premises, said the start of operation of the station is a landmark for the country, since this will not only improve meteorological information, but also contribute to provide credible information to world meteorological system.
The minister added that the government’s aim is that other sectors can also benefit from these improvements, namely agriculture and fishing, energy and water, whose systems are in the installation phase.
“We believe that the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, with this project to modernize its facilities, will be able to respond precisely to those that were the major concerns raised by the national and international aeronautical sector”, the minister explained.
The global project is budgeted at 60 million euros and includes aeronautical forecasting, agrometeorology and hydrometeorology.
