Luanda - Zambia's Minister of Science and Technology, Félix Mutati, Friday in Luanda, highlighted the benefits of the Angolan satellite "ANGOSAT-2" for the development of various sectors of the national economy.
Speaking to the press at the international technology forum, the Zambian minister said that this is an investment with wide-ranging benefits for aspects linked to the relationship between the two countries.
The minister said that his participation in this global communications and information technology event in Angolan capital, Luanda, has to do with the existing link with Angola under ANGOSAT-2.
According to the minister, the Angolan satellite can be used to explore agricultural, mining and other areas of Zambian territory and that his country has invested in a station to receive the ANGOSAT-2 signal, from which it could start implementing its initiatives.
"This cooperation has shown that technology has no borders. It is important to have access to or use satellites to obtain clear information in sectors such as water and forestry," the Zambian minister said.
The minister highlighted the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Angola and Zambia in 2023, stressing that some of the planned goals have already been achieved, HAVING recalled that the two countries are connected by fiber optics.
The second day of ANGOTIC 2024 included two panels on topics such as "Ethics in the use of artificial intelligence", "The impact of ICT on the national education system", "Business models and electrical trade".
Due to end on Saturday, the forum is being held under the slogan "Digitalise, connect and innovate", with the participation of 125 startups and 70 exhibiting companies, as well as 170 speakers, including 65 from abroad.
The event is organized by the government and aims to promote debate on current, global and future ICT issues, as well as sharing knowledge and facilitating networking between government bodies, exhibitors and experts. ASS/DAN/AMP
