Talatona- The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Mário Oliveira, reaffirmed Friday the government’s commitment to invest in public digitization and digital transformation of the society.
Speaking to the press at the launch of the first stone of the National Cloud Platform, the minister said the country is working on the public administration digitization process.
The minister said the National Cloud project will be managed by Infosi, both technically and administratively, and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025.
According to the minister, the National Cloud is part of the government's main objectives to digitize the economy and public administration towards the country's progress and development and that his ministry is developing a project called "Dater Center", to provide society with better management in terms of data security and defense and modernize the country’s digital transformation.
Regarding the partnership between Angola and the United Arab Emirates, the minister said that it has been fruitful in various sectors, as well as in terms of investment for Angola.
"We hope that the partnership with the companies will develop and consolidate so that in due course we can present Angola and Angolans with this important infrastructure that will house government services," the minister said.
Francisco Gonçalves, director of Frisfart for Africa, on his turn said the project budgeted at 89 million US dollars will be completed in a year and a half and the company will deal with quantities of data from different sources in real time, providing information or processions to leaders to aid them make decisions more quickly.
The company's aim in this process, he said, is to train the trainees and the certifications for everyone with knowledge to leverage the resources.
Infosi's general director, André Pedro, explained that technically it will be the main data processing center in Angola and in the information society in general.
"What is planned is a level 3 data center that will have a fiber optic connection with the different ministerial departments and sovereign bodies.
The aim is to create the best data system service in the country," Pedro said.
According to André Pedro, one of the goals is to eliminate lack of systems in certain public and banking services, as well as a fiber interconnection in the home department, with 10 gigs of data processing between the main data center. VS/MAG/TED/AMP
