Talatona - Five thousand young people will be trained each year, as of October 2022, by Chinese telecommunications operator Huawei, in Angola, as soon as the technology park starts operating.
The undertaking, that is located in Talatona District, in Luanda, is a project which is still being worked on and is budgeted at US$ 65 million. It will include offices, training centres and accommodation to train talented young people in technology.
In order to ensure training, as well as full operation of the park, the company already has 53 Angolan employees available, mainly engineers, trained in Angola and other parts of the world.
Speaking to the press, the minister for Telecommunications, Information Technology and Mass Communication, Manuel Homem, who this Thursday observed the progress of the work, revealed the training of Angolan staff as one of the biggest investments made nationwide, as it would respond to the needs of the national market.
The official explained that the installation of the centre would provide training for 500 young people monthly, training them to meet the challenges of the sector, as well as importing qualified labour.
Manuel Homem said that the certification that will be carried out at the technological centre will allow for the absorption of the trained professionals at the institution in the market.
For Manuel Homem, the investment is an initiative that should be encouraged, as it creates local competences that allow Angolans to have conditions to respond to the investment initiatives from large companies.
The minister explained that the effort made by the multinational company to set up in the country was the result of the stability of the economic and financial ecosystem in Angola.
The park will contribute to Africa's digital transformation, 5G technology and digital implementation of government bodies, actions which are needed for the country to achieve sustainable development.
The Huawei Talent training is part of the projects that the Chinese company is carrying out in Angola, as well as construction of the technology centre to create skills for nationals, digital inclusion and conditions for implementation of various technologies.
