Luanda - The National Space Programme Management Office (GGPEN) on Friday in Luanda presented to the mining companies in the country with a set of services provided through ANGOSAT-2, which, among other things, make it possible to locate minerals with precision, generate alerts and monitor the activity of industries.
These are services such as information on the state of mining assets, monitoring and mapping of mining activity and environmental impact, data provided by the TECH-MINAS space application via the Angolan satellite (ANGOSAT-2).
TECH-MINAS is an internationally recognised Angolan solution that aims to provide earth observation products and services for the mining sector.
For example, locating clandestine mining activity by the illegal miners, rivers, roads and other solutions.
According to GGPEN, TECH-MINAS is innovative in that it integrates the most modern artificial intelligence techniques and tools to improve the user experience when using Geographic Information System (WebGIS) web tools.
TECH-MINAS, according to the office, offers advantages such as "optimisation of resources", "reduction of operating costs", "added value in the management of services" and "payment in national currency", unlike services purchased by companies abroad and paid for in foreign currency.
In addition to this technology, GGPEN also presented TECH-AGRO and TECH- ECOLOGIA, two technological tools aimed at the agri-livestock and ecological domains, respectively.
Currently, according to the CEO of ENDIAMA – State Owned Company, José Ganga Júnior, who co-organised the workshop with GGPEN, TECH-MINAS technology is already being used in the Luaximbo, Samacanda and Luaxe mining projects.
Ganga Junior also said that the event was aimed at bringing to the attention of the community of mining companies operating in the country, services that are already available in Angola but are still acquired by many companies from foreign companies.
In turn, the deputy director for the technical and scientific area at GGPEN, Vangiliya Pereira, emphasised that the institution has a tool that allows it to present the best solutions for the mining sector, according to the needs of its clients.
"The tool can be used for the local situation, according to the clients' needs, and payments can be made in Kwanza," she said.
She also said that they have been working with international companies such as NASA to ensure that the tool is increasingly well-qualified.
It can be used for the local situation as required, and payments can be made in kwanza.
Speaking at the TECH-MINAS presentation, businessman Lázaro Manuel, manager of the company Lukeni e Alves, said that they have already acquired some geological studies from Belarus, but he hopes to sign a contract with GGPEN.
"Technology is very important for obtaining certain information about the mine," he emphasised on the sidelines of the workshop.
GGPEN was created to manage and monitor the development of the National Space Programme and is overseen by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS). It is a legal person governed by public law, with personality, administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy. PPA/DAN/DOJ
