Talatona - More than 200 children from the municipality of Talatona, in Luanda Province, on Tuesday were trained on the "Importance of the Satellite in Combating Climate Change", within the scope of World Space Week 2024, which runs from the 4th to the 10th of this month.
The event promoted by the Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), marked the opening of a cycle of lectures in educational institutions in the country's capital and brought together students from the "Pedalé" school, who had the opportunity to strengthen their skills on basic notions in areas involving space technology.
Students were informed about robotic programming, space debris and the consequences for current times, in order to prepare them to make several presentations at main events.
The training taught by the GGPEN´s experts, took place under the theme "Benefits of investments in technology for sustainability".
The electronics engineer Bruna Marte said that she taught children about climate change.
“We presented several versions of rockets, a fully electronic Sputnik model, and the students made a replica of the solar system,” she said.
In turn, Nestlé Angola's human resources officer, Gaspar Manuel, said that the initiative is part of Nestlé's program that aims to impact more than 6,000 children in terms of Environmental Sustainability and Employability.
The aim of the program is to train children from various Angolan schools, academies and research centers in space matters and its vision is to transform children into little scientists or professional information technology technicians.
