Luanda - The ministers of communications of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Friday in the Province of Luanda emphasised the strengthening of cooperation in the areas of cybersecurity, personal data protection and the space sector, within the framework of the implementation of the "The CPLP Digital Agenda".
According to the final communiqué of the XI Ordinary Meeting that took place on Friday, the member states of the community approved the general lines of the Action Plan 2023/2025 and the development of an electronic consultation procedure, pointing to the need to identify mechanisms that enable the monitoring of the implementation of the "Digital Agenda for the CPLP".
Through the final document of the meeting, the member states also highlighted the role of digital solutions on the eradication of poverty, promotion of prosperity and the contribution to sustainable development.
In the scope of the 2016-2026 Strategic Vision of the CPLP, the minister encouraged the deepening of the cooperation between the member states by stating that the communication sector has crucial importance to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided by the state and which enhances opportunities for cooperation and political consultation for economic and social development.
The CPLP Digital Agenda establishes a set of principles and practices that will serve as a strategic guide for digital issues, for the definition and implementation of digital initiatives by member states and for their potential to strengthen networked and joined-up different sectors for the development of the community.
As the government of Sao Tome will take over the presidency of the CPLP in August this year, member states encouraged it to pursue a community articulation to improve cross-sectoral cooperation among member states in the communication sector.
The meeting also served to take stock of the degree of implementation of e-governance actions carried out over the past few years in member states, as well as to analyse the implementation of the CPLP Digital Agenda and improve relations among them. VM/MRA/jmc
