Luanda - Angola participated, with two companies, on Friday, in Tokyo (Japan), in the “Showcase of communities and startups in Africa”, which provides funds to guarantee the growth of small companies in the sector on the African continent.
The startups Anda (related to road mobility) and Mamboo (product delivery), both representing Angola, participated in the event.
According to a press release, the event - promoted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), supported by funding from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Industry - served to identify and address the causes that prevent these companies growth and investment.
The United Nations institution, the document states, has helped African startup communities, through the institution's sustainable finance center, and has the support of Japanese investors.
As co-organizer of TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development), UNDP supports the growing contribution in Africa, including for Startups with great impact and growth potential.
In 2024, the project, “meet the Tôshikas (Investors in Japanese language)” is helping companies in Angola, South Africa and Zambia, the country with two companies.
During a week, they will make contact with powerful partners and investors, in Tokyo, as well as receive a donation of US$20K each from the UNDP Startups Challenge
