Luanda - Angola is participating, with a delegation of the Ministry of Telecommunication, Information Technology and Media (MINTTICS), in the 27th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
The event is discussing, until 27 August, ways to digitalise postal services and the development of electronic commerce (e-commerce).
The Angolan delegation, headed by minister Manuel Homem, includes the Angolan ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, André Panzo, national directors and the chairperson of the board of the Angolan Post Office.
On the sidelines of the congress, the minister will deliver messages from the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to his counterpart in Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouatará, and to the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Patrick Hachi.
The country has been a member of the Universal Postal Union since 3 March 1977.
The UPU is a specialised agency of the United Nations Organisation which coordinates postal policies and services between Nations and the international postal system. It was established by the Berne Treaty of 1874.
