Soyo - The president of the Union of Evangelical Churches of Angola (UIEA), Reverend Eduardo Calenga, on Sunday condemned the growing wave of vandalization of public property in the country.
Speaking to the press, in the city of Soyo, Zaire province, at the end of his visit to the sub-region of his local church, Eduardo Calenga said that vandalism is a practice contrary to biblical commandments, remembering that man and woman were made in the image and likeness of God.
“God is love, therefore, any practice contrary to love constitutes a sin”, he stressed.
He said that, as a partner of the State, his church will continue to preach, not only love for others and God, but also for public goods that are being made available to the population.
The UIEA leader added that in addition to evangelization, his church has been transmitting to its faithful messages leading to the recovery of moral and civic values for healthy coexistence in society.
He called for the intensification of the moral and civic education campaign for citizens, with the involvement of all the country's living forces.
On the social side, Reverend Eduardo Calenga said that IECA supports communities in need of basic necessities, in some regions where it is represented.
Speaking about his seven-day visit to the evangelical sub-region of Soyo, the leader of the UIEA said that it served to hold the 64th meeting of the Steering Committee of this religious denomination, which included representatives from across the country, Namibia and South Africa.
At this meeting, according to the source, issues relating to the internal life of the church, the continuous expansion of evangelical activity across the country and other issues were analyzed.
The UIEA was founded on July 1, 1914, in the eastern region, which today constitutes the province of Moxico, by the American missionary, Albert Bailey. It currently controls more than 140 thousand faithful throughout the country. PMV/VIC/DOJ
