Uíge - The vice-governor of the Technical Sector and Infrastructures of Uíge, Helena Pereira, on Sunday highlighted the role played by the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the World “The Tocoista” in retrieving society's moral and civic values.
Helena Pereira made this recognition during the presentation ceremony of the new representative of the church in the province (named Félix Kalongo ecclesiastical province), Reverend Pastor Celestino Kangela, replacing Reverend Pastor David Bongo.
“The church has been a true partner of the provincial government in respecting moral and civic values”, she stated, highlighting its contribution in mobilizing the population to provide credible information about the General Population and Housing Census/2024.
With the appointment of the new leader to represent the church in the province, the vice-governor expressed the hope of seeing more reinforcement with regard to the partnership with the provincial government.
The auxiliary bishop of the Tocoista Church, João Jorge David, who led the service, called for unity within the church, to continue pursuing the desired development.
He asked Reverend Pastor Celestino Kangela for humility, a bet that aims to create greater dynamics in the religious institution.
The Félix Kalongo ecclesiastical province has 41 Parishes.
The presentation service of the new leader was attended by auxiliary bishops, members of the Uíge provincial government, political and religious entities, among other guests.
