Alto Cawale - The deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructures of the northern Uíge Province, António Mutunda, reaffirmed Wednesday, in the municipality of Alto Cawale, the local government's commitment to developing actions aimed at improving children's social welfare.
The focus is on continuing to provide birth certificates to children, supporting programmes like “Child value” and “ Born Free to Shine”, guaranteeing education, food safety, among other essential services.
António Mutunda, who presided over the provincial act in commemoration of the International Children's Day (June 01), celebrated this Wednesday, said that the construction of schools has allowed the inclusion of several children in the education system.
Under the motto "All united for the protection of children and integrated development, make your municipality an example", the fight against violence on children is another bet that the local government presented at the meeting.
Regarding the Valor Criança (Child Value) programme, financed by the European Union, he informed that it has already benefited more than 4,000 children in the province of Uíge. With the construction of new health units, he explained, access to primary health care has allowed the expansion of the health network in the region.
Present at the act, the interim provincial director of the National Children Institute (INAC), José Domingos Papo, said he was concerned about the increase in cases of violence against children. For that reason, he said that awareness-raising activities on crimes committed against children were scheduled.
