Lisbon - Angolan public television company TV Zimbo launched its international channel on the internet, mobile phone and TV NÓS platforms in position 193 in Lisbon on Thursday.
During the presentation of the television channel, the general coordinator of the TV Zimbo Management Committee, Paulo Julião, said that the company's mission is to extend its services to all countries where Angolans are located, and not only in order to be closer to the country.
He also mentioned that the television station has been in existence for 15 years, and is already broadcasting in Mozambique, Cape Verde and now in Portugal, with the intention of extending the signal to other European countries.
He added that the television station's employees are committed to bringing information and entertainment to everyone's home. According to Paulo Julião, TV Zimbo will give a strategic dimension to the State that is betting on foreign investment.
In a video message, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, congratulated the management of TV Zimbo for its boldness in extending its services to several countries, particularly Portugal.
The Angolan government, he said, wants Angolans to be closer to the country and the launch of the channel will allow them to have more contact with the national reality and culture. In turn, the Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, praised the initiative of the project, having highlighted the total availability of the diplomatic mission to support TV Zimbo in whatever it needs.
During the ceremony, a tribute was paid to the Angolan musician Barcelo de Carvalho, who celebrated his 82nd birthday. This media outlet, previously private, became public domain in 2020. The ceremony was attended by some of TV Zimbo's co-founders, journalists, Angolan diplomats accredited in Portugal, among other individuals. EJM/ADR/DOJ
