Malanje- At least 20,000 families from the communes of Capunda, Quimbango and Cunga Palanga, municipality of Luquembo, have been isolated from other parts of the province of Malanje since last Thursday, due to the overflow of water from the Luando river, caused by heavy rains that hit the region.
The information was released on Monday by the municipal administrator of Luquembo, Alcino Siabala, stating that the water also cut traffic lanes and flooded crop fields belonging to peasant families.
In view of this tragedy, the municipal administration calls on the provincial government to come to the aid of the victims, whose situation is very touching.
For two years, this is the second time that the waters have overflowed the beds of the Luando River. The last flood occurred in 2020 and affected 9,000 families.
