Malanje - The national supervisor of the Population and Housing Census Paulo Fonseca on Saturday called on local technical assistants to commit themselves to training field agents, with the aim to secure the success of the census that begins on September 19.
The local technical assistants will have the task of training the field agents in census matters and interviews with households from August 29 to September 09 to carry out the Population and Housing Census.
The supervisor made the appeal at the closing ceremony of the training for local technical assistants and communal agents in Malanje province, stressing that the success of the Census is in the hands of the enumerators, who must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to access households.
He warned that if the content is poorly conveyed, the field agents could jeopardize the census process, as they will be acting outside the rules, which is why the trainers are called upon to convey the matters that govern the census-takers' mission in a straightforward manner.
Aidne Lameirão, Malanje's deputy municipal administrator for social and community affairs, stressed that the Population and Housing Census is essential for the country's development, as the government will be able to formulate public policies that respond to citizens' needs.
He encouraged the census agents to face up firmly to the challenges they may face during the Census, bearing in mind that the success of this mission depends on them.
The training took place simultaneously in the 14 municipalities of Malanje and was attended by 367 local technical assistants and 183 communal computer technicians from the Census, who spent 11 days covering, among other things, data processing and interview techniques for the operationalization of the Census.
The 2014 Census recorded a total of 986,363 inhabitants in Malanje, 479,788 male and 506,575 female. NC/PBC/TED/AMP
