Luanda - The director of the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB), Wilson Baptista, praised Thursday, in Luanda, the investment of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) in new digital platforms, in order to reach a more diverse audience.
According to the superintendent, who was speaking at the end of a visit to ANGOP's headquarters, the agency is very dynamic and up-to-date on issues related to new techniques and communication methods. “We have noticed that the sector that deals with social networks is quite dynamic”, he said.
Regarding the visit, he explained that its objective was to strengthen cooperation ties between the SPCB and the media, in order to establish partnerships regarding the exchange of experiences.
“We came to reinforce that we are available to ensure that the information arrives in the best possible way and that there are some professional internships for the staff here at the agency, so that we can have the best information with the quality that the current demand demands”, he reported.
On the occasion, the fire superintendent stressed that the SPCB currently has around 12 thousand employees, in different specialties, from firefighting, rescue and salvage, pre-hospital care, among others. He acknowledged that the number still does not correspond to the country's operational demand, having mentioned that the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) has a strategy to reinforce the bodies with more employees.
“The country is quite dynamic; we have a very sharp demographic growth and the MININT is attentive to social changes. With the Census, we will have a very important indicator for redefining the strategy at the level of human capital and also the technical contingent”, he said.
Regarding future steps, he said that initially it was necessary to expand the network in terms of staff and, to this end, some municipal commands are being built, and it is necessary to ensure that the resources are available to respond.
The visit is part of the strategy of boosting the SPCB's Institutional Communication and Press Office, with a view to ensuring quality and efficiency in promoting the image and representation internally and externally. It arises from the need to establish a strategic working partnership with the media.
It was attended by more than 10 professionals from this office, who were briefed on how the agency operates, with an emphasis on clarifying its editorial line and work dynamics.
ANGOP was created in July 1975, under the name Agência Nacional Angola Press (ANAP), and at the time its work was distributed in a printed bulletin, until, on 30 October of the same year, it launched its first telegraph dispatch. CPM/OHA/TED/DOJ
