The provinces of Huambo and Bié recorded, this Thursday morning, an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, without any material or human damage, ANGOP learned from an official source.
According to the Angola Seismic Center, which provides the information, the city of Huambo was struck, around 9:30 am, by the earthquake that lasted 10 seconds.
The impact of the earthquake was also felt in the province of Bié, around 11 am, with buildings shaking similar to what happened in Huambo.
On another note, INAMET informs that the epicenter of the earthquake was detected in the south-southeast of the municipality of Cachiungo, province of Huambo, approximately 100km from the capital city.
Taking into account the panic caused to the population, the source from the Civil Protection and Fire Service says they have raised awareness and advised communities to remain calm.
