Talatona - The Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Danila Bragança on Thursday in Luanda, highlighted the significant impact of the UN Future Summit Simulation on the training of young Angolans.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the event, she highlighted that valuable knowledge and new perspectives on critical global issues are being provided.
Danila Bragança also emphasized the importance of including young people in debates about sustainable development.
"Strengthening young people's oratory skills and encouraging the exchange of ideas is essential so that they can effectively contribute to the future policies that the world needs", she stated.
At the time, the representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communication, Maurizio Giuliano, also highlighted the crucial role of young people as future leaders.
"They are representing different countries and by immersing themselves in the perspectives of those countries, they will be able to find balanced solutions to global challenges", he said.
For youth representative, Manasia Futa, the simulation is an opportunity for participants to improve their public speaking skills and reflect on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"We are challenging heads of state to reflect on issues such as governance, peace and security, gender equality, education and employment", she highlighted.
In turn, Bernanda Kaculete, in a simulation of the secretary general of the United Nations, explained that the event, coordinated by the US Embassy in Angola, aims to enable young people to develop multilateral solutions that benefit their countries and the planet as a whole.
In this regard, she highlighted that issues such as food security and climate change are challenges that require international cooperation.
More than 400 young students of international relations, political science and related areas participate in the activity, with the simulation offering a platform to discuss global issues and propose resolutions that will be sent to the chairman of the UN General Assembly for evaluation.
The Future Summit Simulation is organized by the Association of Alumni of US Exchange Programs in Angola, with support from the United Nations and the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy.
