Mbanza Kongo - Two individuals, aged 21 and 36, were arrested last weekend by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Zaire Province for allegedly sexually abusing children, aged five and below.
Speaking to ANGOP on Monday, the SIC-Zaire spokesman, José Bernardo, explained that the events took place in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Lufico, where the victims are children aged two and five, respectively.
He said that the case in Mbanza Kongo took place in the 11 de Novembro neighbourhood and was reported by the father after he became suspicious about the state of the girl, who refused to be bathed up to her genitals by her grandmother.
After investigations, it was concluded that the child had been sexually abused by a 21-year-old who was immediately tracked down and arrested by the SIC.
The second case took place in one of the villages in the Mpala commune, in the municipality of Lufico, committed by a 36-year-old national, who has also been arrested.
According to the source, the victim was raped by the 36-year-old neighbour, who called the child to go and buy biscuits and on the way diverted her to an unfinished house where he carried out his macabre plan.
The accused was discovered by the neighbourhood after the child screamed from inside the building, said the spokesperson.
He said that the medical examinations carried out confirmed the sexual abuse of the two minors, and called on the population to continue to collaborate with the relevant bodies by denouncing the rapists.
