Uíge – At least 30 people have been arrested since January in Angola’s northern Uíge province by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) accused of sexually abusing minors, the local SIC spokesman, Zacarias Fernando said Friday.
According to the SIC spokesperson, the figures represent an increase of eight cases compared to the same period last year, adding that amongst the arrested people there is a 54-year-old pastor that allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.
The offence committed by the pastor took place at Imbondeiro village, Mucaba municipality, minutes after the victim had attended the morning worship session with other church members.
The offender was surprised by some church members who then reported him to local authorities, the spokesperson said. NM/JAR/AMP
