Cunene - The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Cunene this week arrested four individuals in possession of a counterfeit one trillion dollar banknote.

Despite there not being a banknote with this denomination in circulation in the US financial system, the spokesman of the SIC, investigation intendant José da Conceição, told Angop on Saturday that the act demonstrates bad faith and premeditation in the intention of committing the crime of fraud.

According to Jose da Conceição, the individuals, who were arrested in one of Ondjiva's hotels, said they intended to sell the banknote in neighbouring Namibia for 200 million Namibian dollars.

A firearm was seized from the possession of one of the criminals, residents of Huila province.
