Talatona – Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) on Monday arrested three citizens of Chinese nationality, in Luanda, on charges of criminal association, money laundering, currency retention, energy theft, trafficking, illegal possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition.
Speaking to the Press, the director of the SIC Institutional Communication Office, Superintendent Manuel Halaiwa, said that the crimes were carried out inside an auto repair shop, located on the expressway, where they secretly had a cryptocurrency mining center.
During the arrest, the police found in their possession more than 71 million kwanzas, eight thousand dollars and two Glock pistols with 100 ammunitions.
The police officer said that there was not yet a high voltage electrical energy transformation station in the area, with the capacity to supply a large part of the population of Luanda, a situation that, according to the person in charge, will deserve deeper work with the Electricity Distribution Company. Energy (ENDE).
Manuel Halaiwa told press that this is the fifth cryptocurrency mining space that the SIC dismantles in Luanda, and SIC will be ruthless towards everyone who insists on this practice. MAG/DOJ
