Mbanza Kongo – The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), in Zaire province, on Wednesday deactivated several pockets of cannabis in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Soyo and seized 68 kilograms of this drug.
The spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, said that the product was found in residences and during the operation, 15 citizens aged between 18 and 40 were arrested, accused of possession, trafficking and consumption of narcotics.
He also informed that the seized cannabis and the detainees will be handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office in the coming days.
The Law on the Trafficking and Consumption of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursors provides that anyone who, without proper authorization, cultivates, manufactures, trades, imports, exports, transports, or distributes equipment, materials, or other substances is punished with imprisonment of between two and eight years.
