Cacuaco - Four individuals allegedly involved in the crime of counterfeiting foreign currency (US dollars) were presented to the press on Monday by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), at its headquarters, in Luanda.
hey are three Angolans and a 51-year-old Brazilian, who has lived in the country for more than 17 years and is working on a mining project in Lunda-Norte, according to the SIC spokesman, Manuel Halaiwa.
Manuel Halaiwa explained that three safes were found in the possession of the Brazilian, when he was going to a laboratory supposedly in order to reproduce the us dollars bills.
With the other three members of the network, two suitcases were also found, one of which had a safe and several films allegedly to be used in reproduction.
the SIC spokesman added that each safe contained films that could be used to “counterfeit 11 million US dollars”.
The detainees will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Guarantee Judge, for the appropriate coercive measures. DJ/SEC/DOJ
