Huambo – A security guard, who worked in a private commercial establishment, was shot dead, Monday night, in the outskirts of the city of Huambo, by three fugitive criminals, ANGOP learned.
The information was made public this Tuesday to the press by the spokesperson for the Interior Delegation in the province of Huambo, Martinho Kavita Satito, stating that the crime occurred at around 8:45 pm in the neighborhood adjacent to the Higher Polytechnic Institute - Humanities and Technologies (ISUPEKuikui II).
The criminals, in addition to shooting the security guard in the head, who died immediately, took the AKM-type firearm belonging to the company where the victim worked.
National Police chief superintendent Martinho Kavita Satito said efforts were underway to capture the perpetrators of the security guard's murder in conjunction with the crime of firearm theft, in order to hold them civilly and criminally responsible.
At the same time, he said that following “Operation Barómetro”, which is taking place in the province of Huambo, four individuals aged between 21 and 33 were arrested in the neighborhoods of Benfica, Correia, Chitutula and São José Canjala, implicated in the theft of motor vehicles, in residences, on public roads and carrying and use of firearms.
He added that the arrest of the alleged criminals was the result of police intelligence work aimed at clarifying the crime of stealing a firearm, which occurred on the 2nd this month, in the Cambiote neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, when the offenders intended to disarm the security guard who manned a construction site and carried out several criminal actions with it, which merited immediate intervention by the Security Forces.
He assured that, with the arrest of the four alleged criminals, involved in the crime of stealing a firearm in Cambiote, whose motive for the crime is similar to what happened in the Camiliquinhento neighborhood, everything will be done to determine, locate, detain and present, in next few hours, of those involved in the death security.
The province of Huambo, located in the Central Highlands of the country, has an estimated population of 2,700,000 inhabitants, distributed across 11 municipalities.
