Luanda - The Secretary of State for Youth, Danila Bragança, on Tuesday in New York (USA), called for the creation of strengthened partnerships for the development of youth policies, with equitable access to health services and psychosocial support.

According to a release from the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations, Danila Bragança made the statement at the Youth Forum held at the UN Headquarters in New York under the theme "Youth at the Forefront: Leveraging Science and Social Inclusion for Sustainable Development".

The official highlighted that Angola's National Development Plan (PND) 2023-2027 and the Youth Development Plan (2025-2027) strengthen the integration of young people in public policies, with digital literacy and health programs adapted to local realities.

Danila Bragança said Angola recognizes the risks that digital environments can pose to mental health, and advocates for a preventive, participatory, and data-driven approach.

"Angola values the transformative role of young women and girls in building a more just, inclusive and prosperous society, and promotes programs that strengthen girls' access to education, especially in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as sexual and reproductive health," she stressed.

She noted that technical training and digital inclusion initiatives promoted by the Angolan National Employment Fund (FUNEA) and the Youth and Good Job Opportunities Project have reached girls in vulnerable contexts.

The official reiterated Angola's commitment to the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and called for the creation of intergenerational alliances in which young women lead the transformation of social, economic and cultural structures to eliminate the inequalities that still exist.

As part of the preparations for the 2025 Oceans Conference, the Secretary of State called for the creation of African Blue Youth Platforms with access to funding, knowledge and technological cooperation.

The Youth Forum is a privileged platform for dialogue between young people, Member States and other relevant actors, promoting the sharing of concerns, aspirations and concrete proposals to build a more just, green and sustainable world, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).MEL/MCN/AMP
