Luanda - The remains of journalist Ismael Mateus, who died on Tuesday in a car accident, were buried Saturday in the Santa Ana cemetery, in Luanda.
The wake began on Friday, at the Army Command Headquarters (former RI-20), where the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, paid tribute on Saturday to journalist Ismael Mateus.
The funeral was witnessed by several individuals, including members of the Government, representatives of political parties, civil and religious society, family members, former colleagues and students.
At the cemetery, journalist Amílcar Xavier spoke of Ismael Mateus as an individual of critical and constructive observation who has his name inscribed in literature, institutional communication, politics, university education, among others.
Journalist Pedro Neto said that Ismael Mateus has gone beyond the dimension of the journalistic class, belonging to a larger universe in the country.
He underlined that, as a professional at RNA, he was a 'great' team leader, organizing tasks with assertiveness and firmness, high pedagogy and great work capacity without worrying about the departure time and with total availability to help the replacement teams in their shift.
Such characteristics, according to the former colleague, made Ismael Mateus an obligatory reference for anyone who wanted to be a good journalist in RNA's news newsroom.
On behalf of the family, one of the sons said that Ismael Mateus was a counselor, an 'excellent' cook, an 'admirable' writer, an 'exceptional' leader and a lover of culture, simple and beautiful.
He recalled that his father gave them math instructions, forced many of the family members to be interested in books, with the right to present the summary.
The also member of the Council of the Republic was driving a vehicle that crashed into a fixed obstacle (advertising board and tree), on Avenida 21 de Janeiro, towards the Rocha Pinto neighborhood 4 de Fevereiro International Airport (near the National Air Force, former FAPA-DAA), in Luanda.
A journalist since 1981, Ismael Mateus was born in Luanda, on July 6, 1964. He was a founding member of the Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA) and a member of the Union of Angolan Writers.
Since 1985, he has published opinion pieces, initially on Rádio Nacional de Angola, under the titles 'Dia a Dia na Cidade' and 'Bué de Bocas' On Radio Luanda Antena Comercial (LAC), he wrote for the rubric "Recados para o meu chefe".
Later, he would publish opinion texts in the newspapers Angolense, Cruzeiro do Sul and Novo Jornal.
He published his first book in 1992, the collection of radio texts 'Bué de Bocas', in an edition of Edipress. He also released the work 'Ascensão e Queda, by Bartolas Matias'.
He was coordinator of the collection of texts 'Angola, the Party and the Mourning', launched on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of National Independence, in 2000.
In 2001, by the publisher Nzila, he published his first novel with the title 'The times of YaKalaya'. In 2003, he published the book 'Sobras de Guerra'. CPM/OHA/DOJ
