Luanda - The General Labour Law Draft, under discussion in the specialty at National Assembly, makes the State social protection system responsible for assuming payments in cases of prolonged illness and accidents at work that result in disability.
When providing clarifications to the members of the parliament on Friday, the Secretary of State for Labour and Social Protection, Pedro Filipe, said that this is one of the great innovations, in comparison with the law in force.
He explained that, in the case of prolonged illness, under the current law, the employer is the one who bears the expenses, but paragraph 1 of article 227, of the proposal under discussion, changes the situation and opposes the currents that claim that it is essentially aimed at workers' interests.
Members of the 1st, 5th and 10th working committees of the National Assembly are reviewing and collecting contributions and making adjustments to the bill since May 2 and are expected to conclude by 10 of May.
The draft law reinforces the harmony in labour relations between employee and employer, aiming, essentially, to reprise a set of rules that were repealed with Law No. 2/2000, of 11 February.
