Huambo - The project “The voice of the Journalist”, initiated by Ecclesia radio station, a Catholic broadcaster in Angola, focused on debates about social problems, could be replicated throughout the country, according to its director José de Belém.
The journalist was speaking at the end of the II regional training cycle on Investigative Journalism, which brought together, over two days, 24 media professionals from the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza-Sul and Huambo.
José de Belém said that the program, which started in 2022, is only broadcasted in Luanda, the country's capital, hence the intention to replicate it, not only on this radio station, but also in other media outlets, so that it has greater reach across the country.
In this way, he added that it will be possible to consolidate the project's objectives, which bring together programs and debates, in addition to training actions and other actions in the process of being implemented, with funding from the European Union.
The official recalled that the project aims to reinforce the role of the media and journalists, in particular, with regard to respect, protection and guarantee of human rights, freedom of the press and information at national level.
In turn, one of the trainers of the II regional training cycle on Investigative Journalism, Nok Nogueira, said it is an important media tool in the construction of the democratic State and the rule of law.
Therefore, he advised journalists to invest in investigative journalism, in a responsible manner, taking into account the protection of the national interest.
He said that journalists need to start looking at democracy as a tool that should be used to defend the interests of everyone, especially those most in need, as well as for a humanized public administration.
