Luanda - President João Lourenço was named Political Personality of the Year 2024 on Friday evening in Luanda, as a result of his intervention in various areas.

The award was presented by Sky Light Comunicação e Eventos during a gala that brought together politicians, managers and members of civil society, and which served to recognize various national categories.

Among other things, President João Lourenço was recognized for the promotion of the health sector, considering that Angola is the country that has invested the most in this sector at the level of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The recognition also includes the search for peaceful solutions to regional conflicts, especially in the SADC and ECCAS regions, and the elevation of Angolan diplomacy in the international arena, especially the recent visit of US President Joe Biden to the Republic of Angola.

The Angolan President's work to build infrastructure in the energy, housing and transportation sectors also contributed to this recognition.

According to a source in the organization, the award will be presented to the Angolan head of state in the next few days.

During the gala, the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, received an honor and merit award.

Several other political figures were also honored, including Governors Mara Quiosa (Cuanza-Sul), João Diogo Gaspar (Cuanza-Norte), Ernesto Muangala (Moxico), Foreign Minister Téte António, and politicians Roberto de Almeida (MPLA), Lurdes Caposso (MPLA), and Isaías Samakuva (UNITA).

Legislator of the Year: Osvaldo José Caculo

Political revelation: António Sawanga

Public Institute of the Year: INSS

Public company of the year: ENDE
