Cacuaco - The Presiding judge of the Constitutional Court (TC), Laurinda Cardoso, on Saturday advocated the need for families, society and the state to strengthen measures to protect children from all forms of abandonment, discrimination, oppression and exploitation.
Laurinda Cardoso made this point during the third edition of “Constitutional Odjango” session, an activity that brought together children from various schools in Cacuaco, Luanda, as part of the celebrations for the month dedicated to minors (June).
The magistrate emphasized that it was up to the state, families and society in general to guarantee children the protection and care necessary for their well-being.
She emphasized the role of the Constitutional Court as “guardian” of the Constitution of the Republic, as the country's fundamental law, with the aim of safeguarding fundamental rights, freedoms and guarantees.
In turn, the governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, praised the organization of the meeting, stressing that the “Odjango of the Constitution” is a motivating and important factor for citizenship, which is to be increasingly consolidated.
“The Constitution is one of the most important books in the country and this meeting will certainly help to consolidate better literacy about the Magna Law, as well as preventing the future by teaching children to know their rights”, he added.
The Ondjango Constitution was created with the objective to address issues related to children's rights, freedoms and guarantees.
This third edition marks the opening of the festivities for the 16th anniversary of the Constitutional Court, which will take place on 17 June. COF/SEC/MCN/MRA/DOJ
