Lucapa - The people of the municipality of Lucapa, in Lunda Norte, are already benefiting from energy from the public grid, with the operating since January this year, of the thermal power station with a capacity of two megawatts, ANGOP learned today, Monday.
The municipality of Lucapa, with 150,000 inhabitants distributed in the municipalities of Xa-Cassau, Camissombo, Capaia and Lucapa (the communal headquarters), stopped benefiting from energy from the public grid at the end of the 1990s.
This forced residents to depend on alternative sources (private generators) or on groups of generators from some businessmen charging up to 30,000 kwanzas/month, ANGOP reported during a visit by the Minister for Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, to the thermal power station.
