Mbanza Kongo - The National Police in Mbanza Kongo municipality, northern Zaire province, arrested four citizens on Monday accused of robbing the Catholic Church's Santa Ana Mission, the police spokesperson Lieutenant Luís Bernardo has said.
Aged between 15 and 18, the perpetrators were immediately arrested by officers in partnership with specialists of the Criminal Offenses Investigation Department (DIIP).
Luís Bernardo said that two laptops belonging to the bishop of the diocese of Mbanza Kongo had been recovered from the criminals.
He added that this was the second time in less than a year that the Santa Ana mission, located in the Martins Kidito neighborhood, had been robbed by criminals.
During the micro-operation, 32 other alleged criminals were arrested, accused of robbery, aggravated theft, serious bodily harm and vandalism.
Various items were seized, in particular household appliances, cell phones, motorcycles, computers, bale balloons and electrical materials, the latter stolen from commercial establishments in the city. DMN/JL/TED/AMP
