Uíge – The Border Police in the northern province of Uíge detained in the last seven days eight citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who were engaging in fuel smuggling in the municipalities of Maquela do Zombo and Milunga.
According to what ANGOP learnt on Tuesday, the spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Uige, Chief Superintendent, Freitas Zamas, revealed that the said Congolese citizens were arrested at the border posts of Zuzu (Maquela do Zombo) and Kindaca (Milunga) in which they seized 235 liters of petrol.
Of the seven citizens, five from the DRC were returned to their country of origin, while those arrested in Maquela do Zombo were taken to the local Migration and Foreigners Service (SME).
Freitas Zamas informed that the police action is part of the patrolling activity which was held by the police officers with the aim to fight fuel smuggling in the region.
