Ramiros – A sum of 1,187 suspected of committing 1,662 different crimes in the country, during the festive season, were detained by the National Police (PN), according to data provided during the assessment of “Operation N24” on Monday, Jan 6.
Of the criminal acts, 945 required direct intervention by the police forces in duty, with the provinces with the highest criminal occurrences being Luanda 558, Malange 109, Huambo 101, Benguela 89 and Huila 88.
The balance also registered 394 road accidents, which resulted in 76 deaths and 567 injuries.
The provinces with the highest accident rates were Luanda with 72 accidents, Benguela with 44, Huila 36 and Huambo with 29.
The Civil Protection and Fire services intervened in 37 road accidents, as well as 246 attempts at migratory movements were thwarted.
During the same period, the country's penitentiary establishments registered the entry of 98 inmates, the release of 136 and 744 hospitalized for various pathologies.
Running from 12/20, 2024 to 01/02/2025, “Operation N24” aimed to guarantee public order, security, tranquillity and health, during and after the Christmas and New Year's Eve festivities.
The aforementioned review, which took place at the Osvaldo Serra Van-Ndúnem Higher Institute of Police and Criminal Sciences, was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Homem, Commissioners, Sub-Commissioners and members of the Defense and Security bodies. AP/SEC/CF/jmc
