Luena – Three citizens were detained by the National Police in the province of Moxico in possession of poached meat, equivalent to 40 animals slaughtered indiscriminately, which were being sold in Luena markets.
The aforementioned citizens, presented on Wednesday, were detained as part of an operation to combat poaching carried out last weekend.
According to the spokesperson for the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Provincial Command of the National Police in Moxico, Samuel Camboi, 20 pieces of Bubalina, gazelle and wild boar meat were found in the possession of those accused of committing environmental crimes.
He said that the police forces will continue with the investigation, with the aim of also arresting the animal hunters and closing down the sources of weapons that assist in this activity.
The detainees, he continued, will be presented to the Public Ministry (MP) for legal proceedings.
The PN also arrested other people accused of stealing and stealing plasma televisions, stereos, gas cylinders and motorbikes inside houses, in the outlying neighborhoods of Luena.
