Luanda - The National Police has opened an investigative case on the incident that killed a 39-year-old citizen in the municipality of Rangel, in Luanda, by an accidental shooting, during an intervention by security and public order forces.
According to a statement from the Luanda Provincial Police Command, the incident happened on the 23rd of this month, at 5 pm, during an intervention to contain a violent brawl between two rival groups, on the perimeter of the well-known Rua da Dona Amália, in the district of Rangel.
In the tumultuous circumstance, there was an accidental shot that fatally hit Elzira José Manuel Zonga, 39 years old, a fact that led the population to rise up against the police officers, resulting in injuries to another lady, Esperança José Manuel, 63 years old, as well as serious injuries to one of the law enforcement officers who is in a “worrying condition”.
In this regard, according to the deputy commissioner, Mateus Rodrigues, in an interview with Angolan Public Television, an investigative process is already underway, calling for the forces of order not to be confronted, as they exist to work for the populations, ensuring order and public tranquility.
