Luanda - National Police are investigating the theft of optical fiber cables belonging to the mobile operator Africell occurred Friday in Luanda, the spokesman for Provincial Command of the National Police superintendent Nestor Goubel told ANGOP Sunday.
He said the authorities took notice of the act on Saturday, following a complaint filed at the police station of Boavista, district of Ingombota, by a representative and supervisor of the company BCs, manager of Africell's fiber optic network.
Speaking to Angop on Sunday, the police spokesperson said that the firm registered drop in signal in the communication line, so it set up a team to supervise and maintain the tunnels where the fiber optic cables pass to discover the damage.
Gourgel added that investigations are currently underway to determine the alleged perpetrators in order to be held criminally responsible.
Africell is the fourth mobile operator in Angola and started operating a week ago.
