Lubango – At least 175.5 kilometres of the Lubango-Caconda route, in Huíla province, have been cleared as part of the implementation of the 400-kV power transmission line from the Belém do Dango substation in Huambo to Lubango.
The project of the High Voltage Line "Belém do Dango – Lubango" has a length of 343 kilometers, 60 in width, with a transit capacity of 2271 MVA at the thermal limit of the conductor cables, it will connect the Belém do Dango substation to the Lubango substation.
The work, which began on November 9, will run until the end of April of this year and during the Lubango-Caconda route, 12 explosive devices of various caliber and 89 rounds of ammunition were collected.
Speaking to ANGOP, the head of the provincial department of the National Demining Center (CND) of Huíla, Tomás Calundungo, said that the work on the section was not only on the road, but in surrounding areas.
As a result of awareness-raising work during the action on the Lubango-Caconda route, he said that 20 detonated devices of various caliber were collected in locations near the route.
According to the source, internal quality control and verification is underway at the Nombungo electrical substation in Arimba, where an expansion is being carried out to ensure greater safety for the machines that are maneuvering in the area.
"At the moment the machine is doing the processing work for the substation and as soon as it is finished, they will hand over the work to the contractor, possibly at the end of April," he said.
He pointed out that during the period, they were faced with constraints caused by the relief of certain areas of the municipality of Cacula, as well as the rains that slowed a little down the work.
The 400 kV Belém do Dango-Lubango line, between the Belém do Dango and Lubango substations, is part of a wider programme of projects aimed at ensuring, essentially, the transmission of production from the Laúca Hydroelectric Power Plant to the northern, central and southern areas of Angola.
The line, after Lubango, goes to the provinces of Cunene and Namibe. MS/MS/CF/DOJ
