Luanda - The Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability (PAPE) has distributed 30,453 work kits, with a target of reaching 37,000, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said on Monday in Luanda.
The Head of State who was presenting his Message on the State of the Nation at the traditional opening ceremony of the parliamentary year, stressed that the programme had granted 12,788 microcredits to young entrepreneurs in various fields.
João Lourenço said that the programme had also awarded 3,768 professional cards and carried out 6,497 internships training.
PAPE is an Angolan government programme, implemented by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTESS), which aims to foster and support the spirit of initiative in young people, from established entrepreneurs to emerging ones, to train young entrepreneurs in the technical-professional and small business management fields, as well as contributing to the process of promoting their financial, fiscal and social inclusion.
In his speech, the President of the Republic highlighted the work carried out by vocational training centres, saying that they must continue to play a fundamental role in reducing unemployment in the country.
He spoke of the forthcoming inauguration of two vocational training centres with a high level of technology and modern infrastructure.
These are CINFOTEC Huambo and the Professional Skills Training Centre Project.
In the period from 2018 to 2022, the National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) trained 318,692 citizens in various specialties, a figure that exceeded the target of 254,000.
Regarding the expansion of Vocational Training Centres, he said that 11 centres had been built across the country, namely in the towns of Cacolo (Lunda Sul), Kuito (Bié), Cangola (Uíge), Bailundo (Huambo), Matala (Huíla), Dinge (Cabinda), Mucari (Malanje), Mbanza Congo (Zaire), Sambizanga and Cazenga (Luanda) and in Luena (Moxico).
INEFOP has 161 professional centres throughout the country, 302 courses in various areas and provides skills to around 100,000 trainees every year. LIN/OHA/ADR/DAN/DOJ
