Luanda - The new Board of Directors of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) took office on Wednesday, in a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira.
The chairman of the Board, Josué Salusuva Isaías, and the executive directors for the areas of Administration and Finance, Engrácia Bernardo, Content, Elias José Tumba, Technical, João Simão, and for the Multimedia Area, Geraldo Ambrósio Quiala, were sworn in.
Non-executive directors Leona Capindissa and Ilda das Dores Fernandes also took office.
During the ceremony, Minister Mário Oliveira encouraged the chairman of ANGOP to invest in the continuous training of professionals, to inform citizens more and better.
The minister defended the need to create conditions for the construction of the new headquarters of ANGOP, since the existing one is a leased facility and without adequate working conditions.
In turn, the chairman of the company's Board of Directors, Josué Salusuva Isaías, said that, in addition to the construction of new facilities, priority will be given to the expansion of news services throughout the country.
According to the manager, the existing building no longer offers working conditions for professionals, since a good part of the financial resources allocated to the Agency are spent on the rehabilitation of the facilities.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony, he said that the issue will be a priority, taking into account that the body is in continuous growth, reflected, above all, in the focus on multimedia content.
'We need spaces to accommodate all services in better conditions,' Josué Isaías said. He added that a program was underway to implement the company's delegations and sub-delegations in various locations across the country.
In this regard, he highlighted the opening of sub-delegations in the municipalities of Soyo, Lobito, Dondo, Matala, Luau and Namacunde, where the Angolan State has major projects, from railways, agriculture, mining, energy and tourism.
The new Board of Directors of ANGOP was appointed by presidential order on July 4 of this year.
Founded in 1975, ANGOP is the only news agency in the country. It is established in 18 provinces and has correspondences in South Africa and Portugal.
Its services are broadcast in Portuguese, French, English and Spanish, in text, video, audio formats, as well as photography and infographics. ANM/MCN/DOJ
