Saurimo – The vice-governor of Lunda-Sul for Technical Services and Infrastructures, Cláudio Pemessa, said Thursday, in the city of Saurimo, that the New General Labor Law (LGT) promotes greater worker dignity and improvement of working conditions.
Speaking at a regional seminar to publicize the aforementioned Law, which has been taking place since today, in the auditorium of the Provincial Education Office, Cláudio Pemessa said that the LGT gives more social dignity to workers and brings with it inclusion, justice and security in the employment relationship.
He made it known that the application of the new Law aims to reinforce the guarantees of workers and employers, with alignments in the application and interpretation of principles, duties and norms in the adjustment of legal-labor relations practices, adaptation of current norms, as well as the rationality of human resources management, both in the public and business sectors.
In turn, the consultant to the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, Gabriel Capingala, clarified that the Executive approved the new Law in view of the need to adapt the legislation to the current economic and social context that the country is going through.
He highlighted that the new Law brings a set of advantages, such as reconfiguring the balance of the labor relationship between workers and employers, since the current law has a movement criterion, based on the contractual freedom of the parties, hence it was necessary to create general guidelines about this relationship.
For Gabriel Capingala, the new General Labor Law, which comes into force from this month, presents points that protect workers and avoid unfair dismissals, as well as promoting the fight against instability and precarious employment in the country.
He pointed out the reintroduction of the employment contract for an indefinite period as a rule regime that unequivocally assumes as the only form of constitution of legal-labor relations.
The changes introduced in the new diploma also include compensation and compensation in cases of contractual termination between the parties, reservation of the privacy of the worker's private life, data protection, tests and medical examinations in the workplace, prohibition of the use of video surveillance for worker control, among other aspects.
During the seminar, topics such as “General Principles governing the Legal-Labor Relationship”, “Rights and Duties of the Employer and the Worker”, “Special Contracts”, “Labor Discipline”, “Safety, Health and Hygiene at work” will be covered. , “Occupational Accidents and Occupational Illnesses”, “Remuneration”, among others.
Lasting two days, the seminar is attended by members of the local government, Defense and Security bodies, municipal administrators, representatives of workers and employers associations.
It also has managers from the human and legal resources offices of public and private companies and technicians from the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT), National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), National Institute of Social Security (INSS), from the provinces of Lunda-Sul, Lunda-Norte and Moxico.
