Mbanza Kongo – Two people died on Saturday following the sinking of a craft vessel, which occurred in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province.
According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, speaking to the press today, the sinking occurred in the Zaire River, when the aforementioned vessel with four people on board was leaving the island of Mpululu towards the town of Soyo.
He said he did not know the causes of the incident, which killed national citizens aged between 28 and 38.
Two survivors rescued by the Civil Protection and Fire Service receive medical assistance at Soyo Municipal Hospital.
Sérgio Afonso appealed to people who go to sea and rivers to strictly observe maritime navigation measures, using life jackets to avoid deaths from drowning. JL/DOJ
