Soyo - Around 500 children from four villages in the municipal seat of Soyo, Zaire province, celebrated early Christmas on Saturday, in a joint solidarity action between the Tuzolana association and Angola LNG.
These were children from the villages of Kifuma, Kavugi, Impanga and Pângala, who received snacks and hot food, as well as toys, whose event took place at School Complex nº 44 in Kifuma.
It was marked by cultural entertainment provided by the children, who sang, danced and recited poetry, under the presence of some parents and guardians, teachers and school managers, including municipal and traditional authorities.
Speaking to the press, the chairman of the Tuzolana association, João Rosa, said that it has been the custom, for the last eight years, to provide early Christmas parties for children in the province of Zaire, especially in the municipalities of Soyo, Mbanza Kongo and Nzeto.
He informed that the association, which has existed since 1991, has provided other social support to needy communities in the region.
In turn, the director of School Complex, which hosted Solidarity Christmas, Sebastião Miguel, praised this initiative and asked more civil society organizations to follow this example.
The community's governor, Álvaro Domingos Tabita, expressed satisfaction with the party given to children in his area of jurisdiction, for whom the difficult financial situation of some local families makes it almost impossible to provide their members with a decent Christmas party. PMV/JL/MRA/DOJ
