Moçâmedes – National Police officers interacted on Monday, in the city of Moçâmedes, Namibe province, with city residents to learn about the main concerns in the field of public security and ways to resolve issues.
The campaign involved more than two hundred police officers who visited houses, talking to residents.
Speaking to ANGOP, the Police Commander in Moçâmedes, Intendant Belchior Pongolola, highlighted that the interaction is part of the integrated proximity policing program and aims to collect information to improve the safety of residents.
He said that during the awareness campaign, more than a thousand booklets were distributed, with useful advice on safety.
Regarding to crime levels, the commander pointed out the neighborhoods 5 de Abril, Forte Santa Rita, Eucaliptos and Valódia as those with the highest rates and the most concern for the corporation.
In 2023, the police arrested 1,684 individuals in the province of Namibe, involved in 2,132 different crimes. FA/OHA/CF/DOJ
