Luanda – The nationalist Julião Mateus Paulo “Dino Matrosse” said Tuesday in Luanda that a prosperous Angola depends on the engagement of youth in the different branches of labour activity.
Dino Matrosse said so while delivering a lecture on “The participation of youth in the national liberation struggle”, in the framework of the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation celebrated on 4 February.
The former MP of the National Assembly said that youth is the driving force of society and instrumental in transforming the country's wealth into well-being for all.
“Throughout the country's history, youth have always played a key role in building this nation”, he stressed, recalling that most people who participated in the national liberation struggle were young at the time.
He said the youth have to think first of their land and their homeland because, he added, it will not be the foreigners who will build a New Angola. The former general secretary of the MPLA discouraged young people from opting to seek better working and living conditions abroad instead working for their own land,
“The mentality that there is nothing in Angola needs to be fought, not with weapons, but with debates and ideas, and this role is reserved for the youth, who must
remain in their province and village of origin to help in terms of development”, he underlined.
