Moçâmedes - Two tons of garbage were collected on Sunday in the coastal area of the southern Namibe Province, during a clean-up campaign aiming to preserve the environment.
Plastics, shards, fish guts, fishing material remains and paper are some of the items collected during the activity carried out by the Provincial Secretariat for the Environment, Waste Management and Community Services.
The campaign was attended by more than a thousand people from the coastal areas of Namibia, including civil servants, students, representatives of public and private companies and members of residents' committees.
The provincial director of the Environment, Pedro Hangula, called on the population to participate in the clean-up, which will continue to keep the city clean and welcoming, at a time when the 2025 edition of the Sea Festivals is being held in the capital Moçâmedes, with the presence of several national and foreign visitors.
The Sea Festivals feature the presence of more than a hundred exhibitors of products linked to fishing, agriculture, trade, ornamental rocks and crafts.
